Lirica Sala Girelli Verona · Sala Antonio Girelli, Verona
A tenor and a mezzo-soprano sing an hour of the opera repertoire's favourite arias and duets with a pianist in Sala Antonio Girelli, a small hall in central Verona, after a welcome drink. Pick it for live opera at the lowest price in town, in a room small enough to see every expression.

Sala Antonio Girelli is the ground-floor hall of Palazzo dei Mutilati, a 1934 Art Deco building just off Piazza Bra. It seats about 170 on original wooden chairs. The concert lasts 60 minutes with no interval: a tenor and a mezzo-soprano take turns and team up for duets, with a pianist, after a welcome drink in the palace. Reviewers keep using the same two words for it: intimate, and a good first opera.
This is a recital, not a staged opera, and not the Arena. There are no sets, no chorus and no orchestra, just three musicians. For the Arena festival, buy on arena.it. The hall is the same one used by the palace concert with prosecco, which is sold by a different organiser at a higher price with assigned seats, prosecco and a meeting with the singers. Here you get the music and a drink for less.
Booking works as a donation to the organising association, and you fill in a short form with your details at the door. The tour of the palace that some ticket sites mention is not included on this listing. Bring patience for the chairs, which are period wood and hard.
Sala Girelli is in Palazzo dei Mutilati on Via dei Mutilati, a few minutes on foot from the Arena.
Show your mobile ticket, fill in the short membership form and take your drink.
Arias and duets from the best-known operas, with the pianist on the hall's piano. No interval.
Guests report the singers stay to chat outside. Piazza Bra and dinner are a short walk away.
★★★★★We absolutely loved this experience. Everything was very well organised and the intimate venue made the evening feel really special. The quality of the performance was outstanding - both singers were incredible, and the pianist was equally impressive. Their skill, professionalism and expertise were first-rate. This was our first experience of opera and we weren’t quite sure what to expect, but we came away genuinely wanting more.
★★★★★Really excellent concert Lots of songs you recognised Amazing pianist and opera singers . If this is your first taste of opera it’s a brilliant way to experience it !!
★★★★★Incredible singing and very welcoming staff. The singers chatted to us outside and we had photos with them, all very friendly and chatty. A great experience 😁
